I know, I know…that is so cliche!! But it is so true.

One of the biggest, most important lessons I’ve learned in life is that in order for me to to be the best mom, wife, friend, daughter, (insert whatever role applies)…I will be much better at that role if I take care of me first.

And I believe that one of the most common misconceptions about self care is that it is time consuming, expensive, or some big event. Spa days, grand adventures, and brunch with the girls are all wonderful. And you should absolutely take advantage of those opportunities when you can.

But simple activities like self-care affirmations, journaling, meditation, making a gratitude list, taking a walk, or just unplugging for an hour can be just as effective forms of self care.
