Making Self Care A Non-Negotiable

Self-care is a personal journey.

For some, self care might mean treating yourself to a spa day while for others, it could mean enjoying a spending the weekend cozied up with a good book. What’s important is realizing that self-care is not merely a product to purchase or a task to tick off a checklist, but rather filling our cup in a way that is rejuvenating to you.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.

Self care is about how we choose to spend our time and energy.

The most impactful form of self-care is proactive self-care. It involves regularly checking in with ourselves and being attentive to our needs. What do our minds, bodies, and souls require today? What aspects of our lives are we overlooking? What activities do we long to make time for?

Even the freaking National Institute of Health says that self care can improve your mental health. So, perhaps it’s time to connect with an old friend, intentionally take time to rest, or plan that trip you’ve been dreaming about. Whatever your needs may be (and I can personally attest to this), everyone reaps the rewards when we prioritize self-care!
